Frequently Asked Questions

Everything people ask before their first Omiegle conversation, answered plainly: how matching works, what the camera prompt means, what is free, what the rules are, and how Omiegle relates to the platforms that came before it.

Getting Started

How do I start a video chat on Omiegle?

Open the site in a modern browser, click a start button, allow your camera and microphone when the browser asks, and the system pairs you with another person for a private 1-on-1 conversation.

Do I need to download an app?

No. Omiegle runs entirely in the browser on both desktop and mobile — there is nothing to install from an app store.

Why does my browser ask for camera and microphone permission?

Live video requires both, and browsers require your explicit approval before any website can access them. The prompt comes from your browser, and you can revoke the permission later in your browser settings.

Does Omiegle work on my phone?

Yes. Open the site in a modern mobile browser and the experience adapts to your screen. Camera permissions work the same way as on desktop.

Matching & Conversations

How does matching work?

Matching is random and one-to-one: you are paired with a single person for a private conversation. It is not a public room, and nobody else is watching.

Can I skip to a new conversation?

Yes, at any time. Leaving a match takes one action and puts you straight back into matching. Switching is a normal part of random chat and carries no penalty.

Is there text chat, or only video?

Both. Text messaging exists inside the experience, so you can type instead of — or alongside — the video conversation.

Can I choose who I get matched with?

The core experience is random 1-on-1 matching. Any additional options are shown inside the experience itself; we do not promise filters here that you might not find there.

Privacy & Safety

Are the people on Omiegle verified?

No. Omiegle does not verify anyone's identity, and you should never assume a stranger is exactly who they appear to be. Our safety guide covers the habits that matter.

Can I report or block someone?

Yes. Report and block tools are available inside the experience. Blocking stops a person from reaching you again; reporting flags them for enforcement action.

Do I have to be 18 to use Omiegle?

Yes. Omiegle is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. If you ever believe someone in a conversation is under 18, report them immediately and end the conversation.

Can my conversation be recorded?

No platform can prevent someone from recording their own screen. Treat anything you do on camera as potentially permanent, and behave accordingly.

Accounts & Cost

Is Omiegle free?

It is free to start: opening the experience, matching and having a conversation do not require payment first. Some features inside the connected experience may be paid, and anything paid is shown to you before you commit.

Do I have to create an account?

There is no long signup form. An account may be created automatically when the connected experience requires one — you are not asked to fill out a questionnaire before your first match.

Is Omiegle the same as Omegle or OmeTV?

No. Omiegle is an independent platform with no connection to Omegle or OmeTV. It offers the same style of random 1-on-1 video conversation, built for adults.

How do I contact Omiegle?

The contact page explains the current options for support, privacy requests and reports. For behavior in a conversation, the in-experience report and block tools are the fastest route.
